사자왕은 치열한 전투 중에 전사한 한 병사 앞에 서 있습니다.
그는 비록 기사도 아니며 왕족도 아니지만, 나라와 왕을 위하여 목숨을 바쳐 명예롭게 싸웠지요.
모든 병사를 자신의 아들처럼 아끼는 사자왕은 끝내 관 앞에 고개를 숙이며 병사의 마지막 가는길을
진심으로 위로합니다.
병사의 죽음에 일일히 예를 갖출 필요가 없다는 귀족들의 말을 뿌리치며 그는 이렇게 말하며 나왔습니다.
이름없는 병사라도 한 어머니와 아버지의 소중한 아들이다...라고 말이죠.

6월을 '호국의 달'이라 하여 이 에피소드를 생각했었지만, 만들고 나서 한참이 지난 지금 블로그에 올렸다.
'호국의 달'이라는 것은 없다.
우리처럼, 비참한 전쟁을 치루고, 엄청난 희생의 깃발 위로 세워진 나라에 따로 '호국의 달'이란 것은 없다.
매월, 매일이 '호국의 달'이다.
이번 에피소드는 유투브에서 찡한 감동을 받은 노래' Every Soldier Is A Mother's Son이란 곡에서
모티브를 얻었다.
